What is your e-bike insured against?
We will reimburse you up to 100% of the purchase price if your e-bike, your lock, or any parts permanently attached to the e-bike get stolen. This also includes the battery.
Luko's E-Bike Insurance reimburses the purchase price of your e-bike in case of theft or robbery - worldwide.
Do you want it all? With the Vollkasko add-on, you can add reimbursement for damage plus wear and tear.
Sum insured
This sum is the maximum value we will pay you in case of an insured event.
If your e-bike is under 3 years old, we will refund up to 100% of the purchase price of your e-bike.
The reimbursement is reduced to a maximum of:
- 85% in the 4th year
- 70% in the 5th year
- 55% in the 6th year
- 40% of the purchase price from the 7th year onwards
This is covered
We want you to enjoy riding your e-bike to the fullest. That's why we insure you against the following events:
- Theft (also from locked motor vehicles or bicycle carriers)
- Burglary
- Robbery
- Theft of parts
This is not covered
There are few exceptions that are not included in this protection. Not covered are, e.g.:
- Self-built e-bikes, velomobiles, fully dressed e-bikes
- E-bikes for which an insurance or driving licence is compulsory
- E-bikes with a dealer sales price/insurance value, incl. lock of over € 10,000
- Accessories (e.g. child seat) or other items that are not required for operation
Vollkasko damages that will not be reimbursed:
- Accident and fall damage
- Damage due to improper handling
- Operating errors
- Material, production, and construction defects (after expiry of the statutory warranty period and other warranties)
- Electronic damage
- Wear and tear
- Transport accident
However, you can easily add these exclusions with the Vollkasko add-on.

- Fire, explosion, lightning, storm, hail, flood, avalanche, landslide;

- Defects in materials, production, & construction after the expiration of the statutory warranty period and other applicable warranties;
- Wear and tear of battery, brakes, tires, & tubes;
- Vandalism.
Also included: A yearly bonus of €50 for bike inspection.

What is covered?
- The insurance covers the e-bike specified in the insurance policy and parts permanently connected to it that serve the function of the bike, this also includes the battery;
- The lock used (if specified).
Sum insured and value
- The sum insured is calculated from the dealer selling price of the :
a) insured e-bikes at first purchase (purchase of the brand-new bike by the first owner) and b) lock (if specified). - The replacement value of e-bikes up to 36 months old is insured. For bikes that are more than 36 months old, the current value is reimbursed on a pro rata basis.
Insured perils

What is not covered?
These include, for example:
- Self-built e-bikes, velomobiles, fully dressed e-bikes;
- E-bikes for which an insurance or driving licence is compulsory;

- Accessories (e.g. child seat) or other items that are not required for operation.
Are there any cover restrictions?
There are a number of cases where the insurance coverage may be limited. In any case, excluded from insurance cover are, e.g.:
- Deliberately caused damages;
- Damage that does not impair the function of the item (e.g. scuffs and damage to the paintwork or other blemishes);
- Damage caused by war, warlike events, civil war, revolution, rebellion, insurrection, civil unrest, nuclear energy, nuclear radiation, or radioactive substances.
